The unique water work should not be missed when visiting the Nízký Jeseník mountains. Dating from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries the canal is still in operation today. The credit for the construction of this canal lies with Carl Weisshuhn, a successful local entrepreneur who built it to supply wood to his paper mill in Žimrovice and also for water-driven turbines to generate electricity. The canal is remarkable in that its entire length runs on the slopes of the local rocky hills, it flows through three water tunnels and over two artificial water bridges, the so-called aqueducts. If you want to see this daring work in its entirety, you will need to take a pleasant almost four-kilometre long walk along the red hiking trail.
