The natural swimming pool on the outskirts of the town of Opava, which is locally known as “Sádrák”, was created by flooding the gypsum quarry. Mining of gypsum has been around since the mid-19th century and was so intense that it caused a leak of water from the Opava River, which flooded the lake in just one month. The Stříbrné Lake is lined with grassy beaches with steeper entry into the water. There is an asphalt playground, beach volleyball, discgolf, refreshments and facilities. You can also go fishing in the lake. Various fish, such as carp and pike, are replenished here repeatedly.
