Otice volcano

Perhaps 20 million years ago, you could only watch Otava volcano spewing lava from a distance. Today, however, you can explore this beautiful piece of land up close and carefree. The volcano can be found on the top of Kamenná hora at an altitude of 311 m above sea level, within a three-kilometre walking distance of Opava. After climbing the summit a surprise awaits you in the form of a crater, which is not of volcanic origin, but was created as a result of quarrying between 1890 and 1949. Nevertheless, the view of the volcano is magical, perhaps because there are many interesting legends about the whole of Kamenná hora. However, you will have to find out yourself whether there is any truth in them.
